Dark Matter designs and fabricates experiential ideas for the world's most ambitious brands — turning marketing budgets into objects, vehicles and installations people actually want to touch, photograph and remember.
We make luxury in unexpected places. A sauna towed to a winter surf break. A coffee bar that arrives in a polished aluminium trailer. A swing inside a honeycomb dome. If a brand wants to be felt — not just seen — we build the thing that makes people stop, smile and share it.
Each project below started as a marketing problem and ended as a physical object — designed, engineered and put on the road by the Dark Matter team.
Land Rover is built for adventure, and that shouldn't stop when the weather turns cold. To promote the brand throughout the winter season, we came up with the idea of a travelling sauna — towed to any destination where an adventurer might need a bit of warming up.
Challenged to express the brand's motto of "luxury in unexpected places," the Adventure Sauna was born. It's still touring popular winter surf spots to this day.

A custom-fabricated polished-aluminium trailer that turned every Jaguar event into a moving piece of brand theatre. Inside: an espresso bar, retail display and digital screens. Outside: a mirror-finish skin that reflected whatever environment it rolled into.
From shed to showroom, every panel, hinge and badge was engineered in-house to match the precision of the cars it travelled with.

On approaching The Calyx, guests were greeted by a truly iconic, custom-made gold deconstructed 'beehive' installation that shone within The Botanic Gardens. A swing was installed inside the structure, covered in a cascading modern yellow floral.
Guests could interact with the swing, walk through the structure, and create social media moments that reflected the brand. We also fabricated the oversized 3D Pandora sign and custom media wall on site.

We were asked to produce an experience from a cup's point of view — a day at Splendour in the Grass. Taking the dimensions of a red solo cup, we designed a cavity in the base to hold a GoPro. It was 3D printed, painted and cured before going to work.
Our roaming GoPro Drink caught all the antics happening at the Smirnoff cocktail bar at Splendour in the Grass — handed from punter to punter all weekend.

We were asked to produce a compelling experience for the relaunch of the American Express Centurion Card on the DM acquisition channel. We took key design features of the card and constructed one using aluminium — black anodized, beveled edges, raised tactile imagery.
The card was incorporated into a bespoke acquisition pack. 2,500 packs were produced in the first year. Uptake was over 99%. A great return on investment.
